FAQs

do i need to be fit or athletic already to train with you?

No — and this is the one I most want to be clear about. "Train like an athlete" describes how we train, not who gets to. I coach competitive athletes and total beginners in the same week, and the drills and intensity scale to your body and your starting point. You don't need to be in shape to start. You get in shape by starting.

what actually happens at the free consultation?

It's a short conversation — about 30 minutes, in person or over video. We talk through your goals, your training history, and anything you're working around, like an old injury or a cranky joint. No pressure, no contract. If it's a fit, we book your first session from there.

i'm coming back from an injury or surgery — can you work with that?

Yes. A lot of my clients come to me rebuilding after something: surgery, a long layoff, an injury that never quite healed right. Better mechanics and progressive loading are exactly how you come back stronger and lower the odds of it happening again. We build around where you are now, not where you used to be.

what is plyometric training — do i have to jump around?

Plyometrics is training your body to produce and absorb force: how you jump, land, sprint, and change direction. It's a big part of what makes movement feel explosive again. But it's one tool, used with intent — not random jumping. How much of it you do depends entirely on your level and goals; some people do a lot, some barely touch it at first.

how intense is this, really?

You'll feel it — my sessions are demanding on purpose, and that's where the results come from. But demanding doesn’t mean reckless. Every session is programmed and adjusted in real time, so you're working at the right intensity for you, not getting thrown into someone else's workout. A little soreness the next day is part of the deal.

do you offer online or remote coaching?

Yes. If you can't train with me in person, travel a lot, or just prefer your own schedule, I coach clients remotely with structured programming, video check-ins, and feedback on your lifts. Same standard, wherever you are.

where do you train, and what's included?

In-person sessions run out of Custom Fit in San Francisco, both 323 Octavia st. & 1844 Market st. — whichever is more convenient. Training with me also gets you the facility's amenities, including unlimited DEXA body-composition scans, VO2 max testing, Recovery Room bookings, and group classes. Custom Fit is much more than a gym, it’s a truly personalized performance center.

how many sessions do i have to commit to?

None you don't want to. I offer single sessions and session packs, and I don't lock anyone into a required monthly minimum. People travel and people get sick, life happens. We will find a rhythm that fits your goals and your schedule, and payment is quick and secure through Square.
